Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pharmaceutical Freeze Dryer

(1) The processing of liquid medicines is convenient, which simplifies the process of aseptic operation. The freeze-drying process is carried out at low temperature, so it is especially suitable for many heat-sensitive substances. Preparations such as active proteins and microorganisms in biopharmaceuticals will not denature or lose biological activity during the lyophilization process. Therefore, freeze-drying technology is widely used in medicine.

(2) During the low temperature drying process, the loss of some volatile components in the preparation drug is very small.

(3) During the freeze-drying process, the growth of microorganisms and the action of active enzymes cannot proceed, so the original properties are maintained and the stability of the dry powder is improved.

(4) Since the drying is carried out in the frozen state, the volume of the preparation drug hardly changes, the original structure is maintained, and the phenomenon of concentration will not occur.

(5) The dried substance is loose and porous, in the form of sponge, dissolves rapidly and completely after adding water, and restores its original properties almost immediately. Lyophilized formulations are particularly water-soluble.

(6) Freeze-drying is carried out under vacuum with very little oxygen, so some easily oxidizable substances in the pharmaceutical preparation are protected.

(7) Freeze-drying can remove more than 95%~96% of the water in the drug preparation, so that the dried drug powder can be stored for a long time without deterioration.

The product must be frozen to a temperature below the eutectic point during pre-freezing, and the product cannot exceed the eutectic temperature during sublimation. Therefore, the eutectic temperature is the maximum allowable temperature in the pre-freezing and sublimation stages of the product.
