What is cold trap ？
Cold trap is a device placed between a vacuum vessel and a vacuum pump to condense the adsorbed gas. The cold trap adopts automatic cascade refrigeration, which can provide ultra-low temperature environment for various systems such as cryogenic tanks, pre-freezing tanks, and cryogenic containers, and is suitable for various freeze-drying equipment.

Function 1: Improve vacuum efficiency
The water vapor in the vacuum chamber uses the low-temperature surface of the cold trap to make it solid, reducing the influence on the vacuum level. Taking 1g of ice as an example, 10,000L of water vapor can be generated at a vacuum level of 0.1Torr (13.3pa). The moisture in the cabin will produce a large amount of water vapor. If these water vapors are only removed by the vacuum pump, the efficiency of the vacuum pump will be reduced.
Function 2, reduce the influence of corrosive gas on the vacuum pump
In vacuum systems, corrosive reagents are often present. During the vacuum extraction process, corrosive reagents are converted into gas molecules that flow through the pipeline through the vacuum pump and discharge into the atmosphere, which also pollutes the air.
The use of cold traps can condense and collect corrosive gases before entering the vacuum pump, reducing the damage of corrosive gases to the vacuum pump. It helps to increase the utilization efficiency of vacuum pumps, extend the service life of vacuum pumps, increase solvent recovery, reduce environmental pollution, etc.
